Initial Consultation
You can book a 2-hour initial consultation with me for a fixed fee of £300 to discuss the details of your case. Based on your current position and the information you are able to provide, I will give you an overview of how the legal process works, your options for how to proceed, and cost estimates for your case.
Some firms provide free initial consultations as a general information exercise. In my practice, the first meeting is where strategy begins. Clients come to me precisely because early decisions matter, and I approach that meeting with the same care and responsibility as any other stage of the case.
An initial consultation does not oblige you to instruct me as your lawyer—in fact, you might simply want to get a second opinion or seek advice on a specific issue. You can be reassured that after our initial paid consultation, I will be unable to advise or represent your spouse in the future. This ensures that your position is safeguarded and that the advice you receive is given responsibly and discreetly.
If you decide to instruct me after our initial meeting, I can act for you on a full retainer or limited retainer basis, depending on your needs and preferences.
Full retainer (bundled services)
A full retainer means you formally instruct me to act for you in your matter as a whole. I work on an hourly rate basis, and my rate is £200/hour. I take responsibility for your case and go on the Court record as your lawyer. I will advise you throughout and deal with correspondence and documents from the other party, their lawyers, and the Court to best represent your interests. I will send you an invoice at the end of each month for the work I undertake on your behalf during that month, and I will update you on potential costs for the following month as your case progress.
Limited retainer (unbundled services)
To make legal services more affordable, I offer “unbundled” services. This means you can instruct me to advise on a specific issue or for a defined piece of work only. This might include advice on jurisdiction, hearing preparation, reviewing a proposed agreement, drafting a statement, or providing strategic guidance without me handling your entire case. You remain responsible for the overall management of your matter, and I advise only within the agreed limits and where funds are paid on account. This allows you to access specialist advice where it matters most, without the cost of full representation throughout.
